The Gush
Company

California,
carried with you.
PROJECTIndependent lifestyle brand
ROLEFounder & Designer
LOCATIONLong Beach, California

Desert. Mountains. Coast.
A little California, everywhere.

The Gush Company grew from a love of California’s outdoors. I translated its landscapes, wildlife and color into a collection of graphic apparel and accessories made to carry that feeling into everyday life.

From the original bear mark to hats, tees, enamel pins and keychains, I developed a visual system that could move across products. These experiential concepts explore how that same identity could become a place to step into.

The identity

Wildlife outside.
Landscape within.

The bear is the anchor of the brand: a recognizable silhouette filled with layered color inspired by terrain and changing light. The buffalo and trout extend that approach, creating a family of marks with distinct palettes and a shared visual language.

Good days.
Great outdoors.

On the trail, around town, and everywhere in between.

01 / BuffaloOne mark, three perspectives
The buffalo brings a different rhythm to the collection. Broad bands of blue, green, sand and orange turn the animal’s familiar silhouette into an open landscape, carrying the same outdoor spirit as the bear.
02 / The Outsider CollectionIllustrated apparel
A field guide to getting outside. Mountains, water, wildlife and desert plants come together as a loose collection of graphic symbols, made to feel at home on a trail, at camp or around town.
03 / Sunrise BearApparel & headwear
Sunrise Bear is the starting point for the brand. Layers of yellow, orange, red, green and blue bring changing light and mountain terrain into a single bear silhouette. The mark carries from everyday tees to embroidered patches and headwear.
The same Sunrise Bear, translated into a patch. A simple silhouette and layered color make the mark recognizable across different fabrics, cap shapes and everyday settings.
04 / Sunset BearHeadwear / On the road
A warmer take on the bear, with sunset tones shaped into a compact patch. Trail portraits and everyday headwear carry the collection’s outdoor point of view.

Made in America

Made here.
Carried everywhere.

I paired original, outdoor-inspired artwork with American-made products—bringing the same care to what I make as to what I design. From the graphics to the finished pieces, The Gush Company carries a love of California into everyday life.

05 / AccessoriesSmall objects / Shared purpose
The landscape becomes something to carry. Sunrise Bear extends into enamel keychains, bringing the same layered shapes and color to a small everyday object. A fundraising application connects the design with support for the California Fire Foundation.
Self-initiated experiential concepts

From something you wear
to somewhere you belong.

Three environments explore the same brand at different scales. Weathered timber, canvas, lanterns and camp-inspired seating connect the spaces. A sculptural campfire creates a place to gather, bringing the spirit of the outdoors into the retail experience.

The Gush Company store.

A weathered timber facade, corrugated metal awning and oversized bear establish a recognizable home for the brand. Lanterns, camp seating and layered merchandise displays carry the outdoor story from the porch into the store.

A camp-inspired retail environment brings apparel and accessories together with timber shelving, canvas and warm lantern light. Casual seating around a sculptural campfire invites visitors to settle in and explore the collection.
